Training Opportunity/Internship
Dr. Wollin seeks an intern/fellow/research associate to assist with a variety of clinical and research projects. This is an ideal position for someone seeking further training in mental health, counselling, social work, etc, as well as an opportunity to deepen one’s network of connections within the professional community in Hong Kong and beyond. Through this experience, you will gain a greater understanding of trauma and trauma treatment modalities. You will also gain transferable skills that are applicable to a variety of roles, particularly in the fields of psychology, social work, and child development.
Responsibilities:
Assist with research on trauma, trauma treatment modalities, attachment, children at risk, and prenatal exposure to substances
Review articles, podcasts, and modalities
Provide support in preparation and execution of public speaking events, workshops, and seminars
Collaborate on writing projects including articles and brochures related to mental health, adoption, trauma, substance exposure, etc
Possible responsibilities with Adoptive Families of Hong Kong Steering Committee
Administrative duties to support the practice
Complete other duties as allocated
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Human Development, Education, or a related field
Basic knowledge of trauma and its effects
Ability to stay organized and work independently
Possess very strong written and spoken English skills
Experience and ability in preparing professional correspondence (emails, letters, presentations, etc) and literature (article, brochures, etc)
Solid interpersonal skills and ability to work within a team
Proficiency in Microsoft and Google (PowerPoint / Slides, Word / Docs, Excel / Sheets)
For stipended positions, the individual must have unrestricted permission/ eligibility to work in Hong Kong
Preferred Qualifications:
Completed or in-progress Master’s Degree in a Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Human Development, Education, or a related field
Familiarity with adoption, foster care, or attachment
Prior work experience with trauma, at-risk children, or other related experience
For stipended positions, working familiarity and solid theoretical understanding of at least one or more of the following therapeutic approaches:
EMDR Therapy
Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI)
Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (Ross Greene)
Polyvagal Theory (Stephen Porges) / Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
Dissociation / Parts work / Ego State therapies such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Structural Dissociation Model, Developmental Needs Meetings Strategy (DNMS), Schema Therapy, or other therapeutic approach to parts work
Brainspotting, Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Sensory Motor Arousal Regulation Training (SMART) model, or other somatically-oriented trauma model
Neurobehavioral Model for FASD (Diane Malbin)
Integrative Attachment Treatment Protocol for Trauma (Attachment and Trauma Center of Nebraska)
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (Dan Hughes)

Position Title: Depends on qualifications (possible titles include: Clinical Intern, Clinical Associate, Research Assistant)
An individual who is enrolled in a relevant undergraduate, graduate or postgraduate academic program may be able to use this as an internship, traineeship, or experience hours, and may be able to receive credit from his/her college or institution - however that would be determined in conjunction with the academic program.
